Being “nice” is not the Gospel

Friday, August 28th, 2009

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America voted recently to approve of same-gender sex. As Gene Edward Veith observes, this has the appearance of tolerance and mercy, but it is really a denial of both.
It’s one thing to forgive sin. It’s quite another thing to deny that sin is a sin. When we deny the reality of sin, we deny the sinner God’s remedy–the forgiveness of sin purchased by the blood of Jesus. We
leave the sinner in his sin and in his own presumed “goodness” apart from the Gospel.
This is the worst condition to be in. Please pray for those in the ELCA, that God would grant them and all of us sinners daily repentance and ears to hear God’s condemning Word of Law and His comforting Word of the Gospel.

They lead you to Christ and to heaven.”

Oh, Be Careful Little Ears What You Hear

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

The message is “Oh, Be Careful Little Ears What You Hear,” based on Matthew 7:15-23.  It’s not what goes into your mouth and stomach that causes you eternal harm, but what goes into you ears and soul.  Worship is at 8 and 10:30am.
